Unable to set up iMessage and Facetime from my eSim

Hi All,


I recently bought an iPhone 14 pro max and got it connected using an eSim but when my friends told me that I was not available over iMessage or Facetime I had a look and saw that I was not signed in using my mobile number. When I try to get it connected manually I get an error where I need to be connected over a physical sim from my number to any Apple device in order to connect with iMessage or Facetime. Could I please know whether we cannot set up iMessage over eSim please? As if it is not possible then I need to move back to physical sim. Please have a look at the below screenshots as well. Please help with this.
