2011 Mac notebooks can run macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) – but nothing higher. That means that you are stuck with an outdated version of Safari.

Once you are on Sierra or High Sierra, you may want to install Firefox 115 ESR. It is no longer getting new features, but Mozilla says they will be providing critical security updates until September 2024.

That may let you access some sites that do not display correctly in High Sierra's version of Safari, or that complain about that version of Safari being too old and insecure.
