Cannot close Find My iPad

I have an iPad Air (4th generation) running IOS 16.7. The iPad is unable to access the internet either through the home router or my Personal Hotspot. In the Wi-fi setting, it seems that the iPad can connect to the iPhone and router.

I have tried many of the suggested solutions, but am left with one - back up the iPad and performa an Erase All Content and Settings. I have been unable to complete this action as the iPad continues to turn on the Find My toggle every time I turn it off. Accessing the iPad through my Mac I have the same problem - unable to turn off the Find My function. I have deleted the device from my iCloud account, but this has not worked either.

The question then is how can I turn off the Find My iPad toggle so that I can perform an Erase All Content and Settings.

Looking forward to any help. Cheers. Fred

Deleting your iPad from your AppleID has removed the opportunity to disable the iPad's Activation Lock - to which the inability to disable Find My relates. Never remove a device from your AppleID account before the Activation lock has been removed - as this effectively disables the iPad.

Your only option is to perform a factory restore - and then setup the iPad using the same AppleID.

Once setup and re-associated with your AppleID account, you will be able to deactivate Find My - and the Activation Lock.
