How to fix .Ai.EPS files preview issue on Sonoma ?

since upgrading to Sonoma I can no longer preview .ai or .eps files, there use to be a work around by modifying the Illustrator.qlgenerator file but this doesn't seem to work anymore.

Has anyone found a solution?

Apple has removed all capability to view or convert .e/ps files in Sonoma with the exception of the Preview application which can still view selected .ai files. This was done because it has come to light that these file types can be used to deliver malware. You will need third-party applications that still support opening .e/ps files such as GIMP, Inkscape, Affinity apps, Pixelmator, etc.

I happened to install the full MacTeX 2023 distribution which also installs Ghostscript and by which the TeXShop application can open and display .e/ps files.

That's not correct, the eps they offer is not rastered, it is a vector with all of the layers when you open it up in Illustrator.

Interesting. I looked at about a dozen different items in the vector section. All of them had various sizes to pay for, and all listed pixel dimensions at 300 dpi. Even on images what would clearly be vector art (no overlapping transparent areas).

But if anything transparent overlays anything else in vector art, it will be rasterized in an EPS.

A minor correction (it's been a bit too long now since I last had to deal with this stuff).

Anything that's transparent will be rasterized when saved to an EPS. The object doesn't have to be on top of anything else. Below is a simple block with a frame on the left, a gradient, and another gradient (obviously) on the right. But the right one was given transparent attributes.

When saved to an EPS, the first two remained editable vector art. The object on the right was rasterized, despite not falling across any other object.

This conversation has been hi-jacked.

The issue is EPS files no longer appear as thumbnails in MAC File Find -in Sonoma. I know, I know EPS is old, and lost. NO it is not. We that use MAC to earn money, and produce great work - have Assets -- aka Files that are EPS.

That Apple has decided our assets are = to junk is a relationship damaging move. Lets' PLEASE Rewind the conversation - Has Anybody a Fix, a Solution to preview EPS image files in Mac File Find? Anyone? Please. and Thank you too.
