My mouse has frozen in the top left hand corner and now I have loss control of my computer. How do I get the mouse working?

Press and hold the power button for about ten seconds.
When you do this, your Mac will do an un-controlled emergency power-down.
Leave it at least a quarter minute.
Then try to start up again and see how far you get, and what shows on the display..

I don't know what your comment is referring to.
Did not power down? A: press deeply and hold longer
Did not power up again? A: what is showing on the display now?
Did not fix the mouse? A: TheLlittles have that answer above.
