Did you lock your Mac self with find my? Then unlock it:

Recover the passcode and unlock your Mac

If you locked an Intel-based Mac, you can recover the passcode online.

  1. In Find Devices on iCloud.com, select the Mac in the All Devices list on the left.
  2. If you have already selected a device, you can click All Devices to return to the list and select a new device.
  3. Click Unlock, then follow the onscreen instructions to verify your identity with your Apple ID password.
  4. When you have your passcode, enter it on your Mac.

If you locked a Mac with Apple silicon, you must enter your Apple ID (or a Reachable At email address or phone number that you added in Apple ID settings) and password to unlock it. See the Apple Support articles If you forgot your Apple ID email address or phone number and If you forgot your Apple ID password.

Is your Mac activation locked to another users Apple ID? Then you cannot unlock the Mac, if you're not the original owner and cannot provide valid proof of purchase information apple will not unlock it for you. If you're the original owner and can provide valid proof of purchase information , you can start an Activation Lock support request.
