Uppgrading Catalina 10.15.7 to newer OS?

Hello!

Problem: i am editing with Final Cut Pro x. I purchased my Imac 2013 second hand and the software were preinstalled. Due to i don't have access to the previous owners account I cannot access upgrading Final cut pro x. My FCP is lagging and I have tried most of the tips for fixing that, without progress. Final cut is not visible/accessable in App Store on my account. I cannot purchase a new Final Cut Pro because it's not supported Catalina! Very frustrating.

Question: is it possible to upgrade the OS to e x Big Sur or newer to be accessible for upgrading or purchasing new Final Cut Pro. Or other solutions.

Best Regards

Ola

10.15.7 is the last OS that computer will run. Catalina cannot run the current version of FCP. Apple only sells the current version of the software.

The only thing you can do is find someone you had a Mac with late Ventura or Sonoma who will allow you to make the purchase on their system using your Apple ID and credit card. Once you have made the purchase you can then download the version appropriate for your 2013 Catalina iMac in the App Store on that computer.

Once you have made the purchase, as Tom described, if you click on your account (bottom left of the App Store window) in the Catalina mac, and click the download icon, you will be able to download the latest version for that OS.

Note: if there is a version of FCP in that mac, drag it to trash before doing the above; otherwise instead of the download icon it will say Open.
