How to change the color of the viewer/ browser/ timeline windows in FCPx

The backgrounds of the windows in FCP are all black making it difficult to see the video frame border and other things. There used to be a way to alter this color for all windows to any grey scale. can't find a way to do this??

thanks

I don't understand this: "There used to be a way to alter this color for all windows to any grey scale." As far as I know FCP has never had an option for that. Like Luis said, there's an option for the Player Background:

But I've never seen an option to select background colors for windows in FCP. Do you have any screenshots? Have you downloaded the Trial version to see if whatever option this was is still there? I've been using FCP since release day, and I don't recall that option ever existing. We you using some 3rd party plug-in?

unfortunately non of that is a solution. I don't want to mess with the video background at all. and leaving the transform thing up only causes problems and isn't a solution.

I actually did this with the trial version of FCP but when I bought the program it installed a new version and all my settings and preferences are gone. the only way to see a lighter background is adjusting the contrast of the monitor which obviously causes other issues. this might be a MacOS thing not a FCP thing but the viewer settings don't have this option anymore either. so frustrated with this software. its one issue after another that just wastes so much time.

thanks for the reply.

anyone else know how to do this?

Thanks

the viewer background is NOT the issue. in FCP7 this was a very easy to find feature that allowed the user to adjust all the window's background. I don't know if this has something to do with the MACos Dark/light mode which seems to effect app windows but not FCP. I have no idea what the option was in the trial it just had a nice neutral grey background that made it easier to see everything. right now I have to go to accessibility settings for the Mac display and adjust the contrast to see a very dark grey background in FCPx. this is MUCH darker than what was in the trial default. I've seen this done with other apps on the Mac including adobe products. it's a basic user feature that shouldn't be this hard to find. I can't open the trial version anymore.

It's a been a while for me, I started on FCP 2, but I don't recall being able to change the window's background color in FCP 6 or 7. Was it in the general tab in user preferences? I remember you could toggle tool tips in general in user preferences which I wish every app and every OS had.
