Mental health screening: replace PHQ-9 and GAD-7 with leading-edge screening measures

I am enthusiastic about this new aspect of Health. That said, it is disappointing to see the use of very old and outdated screening instruments (PHQ-9 and GAD-7). To whom within Apple Health can I direct some recommendations for replacing these old relics? The PHQ-9 and GAD-7 derive very specifically, to some extent verbatim, from the DSM-IV and are over 40 years old. The paradigm has changed. It would be pretty easy to ditch the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 and replace them with a new-paradigm tool like the Multidimensional Behavioral Health Screen. Though it has 29 items, it is overall shorter than the combined PHQ-9 and GAD-7 combo and provides much more information (10 scores) and is much more precise. The MBHS is based on emerging hierarchical-dimensional models of psychopathology (see HiTOP, for example). It is very hard to reach directly the key individuals within the Apple Health division. Some help with this effort would be much appreciated!

I'm sure Apple knows all about that. But Apple is the expert in shipping products useful to real-world customers. That includes people in the real-world medical profession. Just because you are up-to-date doesn't mean anyone else in the profession is.

Here's a good example. It's really hard to get a doctor's appointment (at least in Canada where health care is free, but our elected representatives are committed to destroying it). They never answer phones. Most have never heard of e-mail, let alone any kind of web-based scheduling system. I'm relatively lucky to have a doctor's office that has an e-mail address. They will respond within about a week with an appointment time of their choosing in about six weeks.

But I have a friend who has a secret weapon. He can get an appointment in a couple of days, whenever he wants. Do you want to know what he does? He sends a fax. Those people respect a fax.

Apple knows its customers and industry partners.
