Battery health is draining so fast, that it drained by 3% in just 12 cycle count.

I bought MacBook Air m1 in the last week of September 2023. I generally don't use it too much, that's why I was unaware of my battery's health until my friend told me about it. That day I saw that my battery's health was 97% and battery cycles were 12 only. I'm too stressed about this, because it's my first ever MacBook. I was already disappointed because I bought it before the amazon's sale, where I could buy it for 20k less.

I switched from linux to Mac, so I wasn't know that MacBooks don't heat. I was using it normally, but while charging one day I noticed that its back Was too hot and sometimes a little hot.

I attached one screenshot also so that you guys can look on this. I didn't expect this quality from apple.

Please give me suggestion, what should I do?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.1

That Mac's battery condition is normal. There is nothing wrong with it.

Battery capacity will fluctuate over short periods of time. They start at 100% capacity and will not increase from there, nor will they ever return to 100%. That Mac battery's maximum charge capacity of 97% may increase, and it may decrease, although the long term trend measured over a period of years is down.

The nature of all Lithium-Ion batteries is that some can last for long time at a high capacity, some can degrade quickly by a small amount and then stay there for a long time, and some can degrade in a linear fashion from day one. They will also degrade by just sitting around. There is no way anyone can predict how any battery will decay. It is just the nature of the technology.

FWIW, I bought an M1 MacBook Air when they came out in 2020. After 6 months, battery capacity dropped to 90% and has been at 90% to this day.

So, don't stress out and just use the Mac.
