Ipad 4 burning chemical smell

The iPad absolutely reeks we’ve since turned it off. The smell came on suddenly and we didn’t realize it was coming from the iPad at first.

My five year old was playing with it now his hands smell like burning plastic chemical. Washed his hands like 12 times did with with vinegar 2x and there’s still a slight scent . 6 hours later it’s still present.

What is it and is it going to harm him? It doesn’t seem his hands are burning him.

Power down this iPad and discontinue using it!

STOP USING THIS iPAD!

This iPad may have a serious hardware problem!

This iPad is 11-years old and is too old and an iPad 4 is considered obsolete, by Apple, so Apple Stores will not able to repair/replace such an old device.

This iPad is DONE! Discountinue using it.

Maybe simply turn in/recycle this device through your nearest Apple Store or Apple Authourised Reseller location.

Sorry.
