Mouse don’t touch on the screen
The screen is frozen with the last image, while the mouse runs across the screen, scrolling with the trackpad works, but clicking does not work.

Shut down and restart you machine if you have an issue and compare your results....
You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.
