Missing current version of file

I’ve had a file that I’ve been consistently updating on my iPad since January 2023. This file has shown up correctly for the past 10 months. However, when I went to edit this file today, it was replaced with the initial file that I downloaded in January. I never deleted any versions of this file and the updated file does not appear anywhere on my iPad when I search for it. Additionally, I have my iCloud account synced to my iPad and all of my other Apple devices. The file has constantly shown up with the correct information until today. Was my file deleted with my consent, and is there any way to get this data back?

If the missing file was on iCloud Drive, and was deleted from there, then there is a 30-day sliding window for file recovery. Sign in to iCloud dot com in a supported browser and on the upper-right avatar menu, there is iCloud Settings. Click that and you will see a Data Recovery category. When you click Data Recovery, you will see a Restore Files… begin building a list for you. If you are living right, you will see this result with your file(s):
