Using shared folders on Mac

Importing hundreds of photos to Mac. Putting them in albums and need to share with others. Created a shared album for each and then copy/paste into shared album.

Is this creating duplicates or just pointing back to the original?

Photos Shared Albums A number of photo albums have been shared to me by a friend. For each album, I "right clicked" on the album title and downloaded all photos to my Mac. After doing this, the albums are still listed under the "Shared Albums" header in Photos. I think the photos are resident on my computer because if I "cntl-click" on any photo and select "Import" I get a message that asks if I would like to import the duplicate item. The photos in these albums are important to me and I have a few questions that hopefully someone can answer. First, are the photos actually resident on my computer? Second, when they were imported did Photos import a full resolution image? Finally, if I "unsubscribe" to the shared album or the owner deleted the album or any of its photos, would the images be deleted from my computer, and if so how could I prevent that from happening. Thanks in advance.

How can I copy a photo album while keeping order on MacBook Pro? I'm using a MacBook Pro 2021 with Sequoia 15.5 sys. and Photos. Trying to create a second identical photo album on a flash drive but each time I try to "select all” photos and then paste them into the second album, I get the photos but in random order. They cant be moved into the original order, even if I wanted to. But I'd rather know how to copy and paste all the original images and data into the second album, keeping the original order. Shared Albums Tick Marked and Greyed Out, Not Syncing to Mac MacOS Sequoia 15.4.1. In Photos Settings, iCloud Photos and Optimize Mac Storage are selected, and Library view says 'Synced just now'. Shared Albums is check marked but greyed out, can't make changes. My Shared Albums are visible in iCloud.com and on iPhone but not in Photos on Mac. I am logged in to iCloud. Have tried restarting the Mac, repairing the Photos library, turning off iCloud Photos (and back on again). They were all visible in Mac Photos until a few weeks ago. How to get them back on Mac again? [Edited by Moderator]

A photo added to a normal album just points back to the original copy in the library.

A photo added to a shared album is a separate copy, possibly at a reduced resolution.
