Can the IPad6 load updates to a 1TB stick to do the update to my maxed out 32gb ipdad?
I have a 1TB stick on order, wonder can you download the update 3.6gb to my stick and update ipad6-32gb only about . 4gb left of free space.

You cannot update your iPad from external USB storage.
If your internal storage is full, your only option is to better manage the storage that you have - and delete unused Apps or unneeded data.

External storage options can often help with managing limited internal storage. Depending upon your iPad model, the iPad will either have a Lightning or USB-C port - and may therefore require either an Adapter or USB hub to connect the USB Storage device. Using a Windows PC (with iTunes for Windows installed) or Mac computer (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of macOS) can be helpful when attempting to update a space-constrained iPad. The computer can download, unpack and verify the update before installing the unpacked update to the iPad. This process requires much less free space to be available on the target device.
