I was browsing Windows Report (https://windowsreport.com/this-page-wants-to-install-a-service-handler/) with my Macbook and accidentally clicked 'download Fortect' on this webpage. It downloaded as an exe file, however, I did not open it. I dragged it into trash and emptied trash.
Should I be concerned for a possible virus infection on my Macbook? Thank you!

The .exe files don't run on MacOS, they run only on Windows, as they are Windows executive files. MacOS is a UNIX system.

I wouldn't be too worried about a virus. An exe. file is just an executable file, but most Macs have safeguards to prevent harmful ones from being randomly executed. Since you only downloaded the file and immediately deleted it, it likely won't cause anything. However, if you notice performance issues, such as excessive battery drain, or other things that seem out of the ordinary, then I would get the computer checked.
