Sync iPod classic (6th gen, 2007) to Music on MacBook Air M2

I'm trying to sync my iPod classic (6th gen, 2007) to my MacBook Air M2 but can't. The iPod appears in Music, but when I click on Sync settings, it tells me the device can't be found.

My iPod doesn't appear in the Finder.

My iPod is showing the rotating arrows as if it was syncing (so it says it's connected), but nothing's really happening.

What to do?

iPod Nano - 7th generation - Mac OS Ventura no longer can connect With the latest 13.4 edition of Ventura, I can no longer connect my iPod Nano, 7th generation device. Plugging into my M2 2022 MacBook Air, the iPod is nowhere to be seen. It doesn't appear in the finder or in Disk Utility app. So forget trying to sync with my mac. Is my favorite music device no longer any good? Sorry, but I find using my iPhone or the iPod Touch way too large to take running, etc.

How do I move tracks /files off my 20 year old ipod nano onto my new MacBook Air? I have a new MacBook Air and an ~20 year old ipod nano (5th generation). I can't get them to talk to each other. I can get the ipod into disc mode but the new Mac won't read it. For that matter, it isn't working with a a 13 year old Mac, either. I'd like to get the music uploaded somewhere, somehow. Any suggestions?
