Update Apple ID Settings not responsive

Hi, Under macOS Sanoma 14.0 my MacBook Air asks me to update my Apple ID. I might have mistyped it, but I have it. It works to post here for example. No need to reset it.

The issue started after I created a new account to reconstruct Mail to like it was a few months ago, before I accidentally deleted a small part of my Mail, using Time Machine under. All relevant parts for that I retrieved on my main account under ~/Library and then moved those copies to the new account, without the (original) addition. Seems to work. Now rebuilding the envelope index, might take a day or so as a background process.

But now I have this issue in my main account. I can't quit System Preferences. The red dot of the window is grey like the whole window. Force quit is not available.

There it says some that might ring a bell with you:

AAUIFollowUPExtension (FollowUps (System Settings)) (not responding)

Something which I could actually quit!

Then the System Preferences window is not greyed out anymore but the 'Continue' button does not work, nothing happens. I can quit System Settings again, but not 'Continue'.

As a first step, I would reboot into Safe Boot by shutting down, then start up holding down the shift key. This boot may take significantly longer than a normal boot. When it finally does boot up you should see "Safe Boot" in red letter near the upper right of the screen. Safe Boot clears some caches, which may contain something that is causing what you have been seeing. Wait a few minutes, then restart normally. After doing this, you could also try logging out of your Apple ID through System Settings, then login back in.
