migration from old to new iMac using Time Machine has not transferred photos and number files

Have followed the migration procedure as suggested by apple. Migration took nearly 2 hours. Clicked done and then searched for photos and numbers but neither had been transferred. not sure what to try next. Cancel migration and try again? Try to transfer direct from old iMac to new ?

You don't mention where your photos are on the old computer. If you are using the Photos apps to manage your photo of even a third party app such as Adobe Lightroom then look there. Migration Assistant works 100% of the time IF you migrate from your old computers Time Machine External Hard Disk. The rare event is when third party apps such as Lightroom or MS Office may not migrate due to those companies licensing. This is easily handled though by simply re-installing those apps assuming you have the license keys you were provided.

Also, if you keep your photos in iCloud as suggested, they are still there and you simply need to log in on the new Mac.

If you use some other third party cloud service to manage your photos then you need to look there.

I'm sure your photos are available to you on the new computer. As mentioned Migration Assistant works, it's usually the end user that has likely made a goof somewhere along the line.

Also, when posting posts like this it is helpful to us to be more descriptive. Something like, "I just migrated from my old Mac running Mac OS 15.x to my new M3 24" iMac running Mac OS 14.x. I migrated via Wi-Fi and had my photos stored on the old computer using Adobe LR Ver X.X which is a 32 bit version of the app. My photos and LR did not migrate, why?"

With a question like that you are giving us a LOT of clues to help you out. The way you worded your question does not tell us a lot so we have to play 20 questions with you. Not trying to scold you, just trying to help you going forward so we can be as effective as possible when you run into a problem. Finally, we are all end users just like you, Apple is our hosts on these forums however Apple does not participate in these forums.
