Attempt to copy wifi password from MacBook does not copy

I am trying to copy my wifi network password from my MacBook to use on my other devices. However, every time I follow the instructions and click "copy password" and then go to Notes or any other text entry field - it is not there and copies whatever was previously in the clipboard from the last copy/paste. Please help.

Looks like this is broken functionality in Sonoma.

In the meantime the password is still accessible if you use /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app

Still an issue in 14.3.1 (23D60) on a 2019 16-inch MBP at the time of this writing.

This is something else. This is in Wi-Fi settings (easy access from wifi icon in top right) clicking on the (...) icon next to a known network. Second option is "copy password". Selecting this puts nothing in the clipboard. Note that there is no password to view here, only the option to copy the password, so it's not about the password not showing because of admin mode (which I have, btw). See screenshot below.

I found the answer: use KeyChain access (not Passwords!) where the wifi passwords can be seen.

Still, seems like a bug that the "copy password" option from the wifi menu does not work.

Same problem as OP. a brody, we are not talking about "all bullets", there are no bullets showing. This is a joined network, using the "copy password" function on the "..." menu. Nothing copies, clipboard is empty. No way I can see to view the password.

Extremely inconvenient! We are connected to a network and I cannot view the password so my other device cannot connect.

You need administrator login to see the password in any field. If you don't have this, Safari won't reveal the password to the clipboard or anywhere else. Neither will the keychain. A standard user may only be able to store passwords in Firefox or Chrome without the aid of an administrator user. 1Password may also offer such access, as they are managed by their own account.

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Users and Groups or Accounts (depending on OS) will reveal what type of user you are.
