Connecting to a server

I recently upgraded to macOS Sonoma and I am constantly receiving an error message: There was a problem connecting to the server "xyz". Check the server name or IP address, and then try again...... contact your system administrator. After entering the correct username and password when prompted the data is not accepted.

I can see the server under the Network Location using Finder. I can navigate the server just fine, add and delete files/folders.

Your suggestions are appreciated.

Update to original post:

I changed the hostname of the server to another name (let's say 'ABC') and rebooted the server to apply the name change. Sonoma recognizes the server with the new hostname under Finder>Network. I'm able to navigate the server just fine, add and delete files/folders.

Unfortunately I'm still being prompted (every 5 minutes) to enter the name and password to server 'xyz'.

Your thoughts are appreciated.
