Photo edit functions on iPhone- what happened?

in the past, I could add a box, a circle or an oval around something to call it out. Now that edit is no longer available. Instead, the option is solid shapes that are opaque and block out the image.

what’s up with that?

How can I access the old functions, which were superior to the updates?

Perhaps indicate which factors in your device's OS had changed

within 'interim timeframe', too. As if any of those were upgraded

after the fact; & we can only see what presents itself in your post.

Some of what your device shows in your post, does not update in

any realtime capability; so we're at a loss on how to respond here.

A few screenshots, may be of some help. Or not.

An iOS running in iPhone 6sPlus may have lost some features not

updated to effect any change in iOS15.8 or iOS16.x. That whole

group iDevices felt effects at some point; to include Continuity.

If you please, explain to the Community with detail; & offer reply.
