iMovie failure

I created a folder “Wedding” and took 3-min clips and edited them, named them, stored them.

now I have to combine them.

going to New Project movie, adding media, finding “wedding”, the 3-min movies are not accessible and are greyed out.

how can I combine them?

Joining clips to make Imovie on MAC Using IMovie on Mac Mini. Imported old family movies. I then edited, titled and reordered the scenes. There is a small space between different family scenes. When I went to share the entire movie it only exported the first clip of 2 minutes. The movie is 1+ hour long. I tried to join the clips together using Modify and Join Clips but it was grayed out. Can someone suggest the best solution to editing and joining clips? So, I have found the "workaround" option which is exporting the file and having the clips "joined" in this fashion. But what is the proper way to join clips AND edit your video? What have I missed? Is there some design flaw in iMovie that no one wants to talk about? I'm talking about editing a single clip, removing unwanted footage, and using the "Join Clips" under the "Modify" tab. How can I remove unwanted footage and not have this option greyed out and unable to use? Thanks for ANY suggestions.

Join Clips greyed out I have two clips in mp4 and there are two clips that I want to join together in iMovie. Can I not join clips made by other programs? Sorry - this is the first time I've used iMovie and I followed the instructions on how to join clips and got to this stage, but am not able to because "Join Clips" is greyed out. Is there another free editor that can do what I want to do, or is there some way to get that "Join Clips" to reappear? Is there a size limit for clips? One of my clips is a it over 3GB long. I'm on a late 2018 Macbook Pro with 8GB of Memory.

Also, the instructions provided abundantly are NOT for combining movies. The are to combine clips.
