U R G E N T: Scrambled Contacts

Contacts sync with email accounts, so which email account or accounts do your contacts come from? Go to Settings/Contacts/Accounts and see which account or accounts have Contacts listed.

Sorry, you did show the right screen, but the hosts removed it because it contained personal information. You have a mishmash of contacts from 2 gmail accounts, a yahoo account, and your iCloud Apple ID account. That would account for many duplicates.

Now open Contacts and tap on Lists at the top left if it isn’t already showing the word Lists in bold at the top of the screen. That will show you each of your contact sources, and you can see which contacts “belong” to each contact source. spot check them for duplicates, and if they are duplicated on more than one list you can either turn of contacts for the accounts that have duplicates or manually adjust the contacts. Ideally, after verifying that the contacts you want are in iCloud you should tap on each account in Settings/Contacts/Accounts and turn off the Contacts (and possibly the Calendar) switches for all except iCloud. If you still have duplicates there are ways to deal with that.

When you compose a text the name is taken from a contact card. If you have multiple cards with the same number it will choose one at random. Go to contacts and do a search for the number you used to see how many contact cards have that number.

That isn’t what I asked. Please follow these instructions:

• Tap Accounts

So there is a card with your sister’s number that is for “Accenture” or has a name and the “company name” box is checked.

As I said, with 60 contacts you will get a different one each time. You need to fix those, and you should unlink all of the email accounts that have Contacts except for iCloud.

It isn’t clear what you mean by “scrambled”.

When you tell me which email account or accounts your phone syncs to I may be able to make suggestions. But that is the key information needed to solve this puzzle.
