wifi connection on ios 17.1.1

I am signed in to my wifi network, which has internet access (other devices are on the internet just fine). But my iphone is unable to browse the web, and apps with internet connection requirements (such as email, social media) don't load. It seems like it might be a DNS issue? Basically iphone doesn't seem able to successfully send queries. The phone gets onto the wifi network just fine, and shows all four wifi "bars."

Restarting the phone / resetting network settings seems to provide a temporary fix.

I am on an iPhone 13 pro running iOS 17.1.1.

As I said, restarting or resetting network settings provides a temporary fix. But the issue keeps happening. There’s at least one other person who has the same issue who has replied, and the update is fairly recent so it’s not surprising that the “thousands” of people this issue no doubt affects haven’t taken the time to write a post on these forums yet. Hopefully Apple fixes the issue before that happens.

I Updated my phone last week and my WiFi and cellular data have continuously become useless. Not only does there seem to be no signal coming or going, but when I go into my settings and select WiFi my entire screen freezes. I have to lock and unlock my screen to unfreeze it but it just refreezes the next time I select WiFi in my settings. I have to wait 20 minuets or so for my phone to fix its self and then everything is back to normal.

Im on an IPhone 13 and running the iOS Version 17.1.1

My service provider is Verizon and my home internet is T-Mobile.

Sorry to hear. Don’t believe it’s an iPhone issue as both iPhone 13 Pros I have is experiencing the same exact issue!

for my peace of mind, I am not turning on Privacy IP address, to ensure an internet connection regardless of where iPhone is, anywhere. Only thing is iPhone IP details will show “Privacy Issue”.

Apple probably has good intentions by having Privacy IP addresses for different connections. But till it works as advertised then I’ll choose to leave it OFF!

No I had no issues with mobile data but I really don’t roam that much. Usually I have a free (safe) WiFi connection away from home and my home WiFi connection at home.

just a thought what Apple would do if you have active Apple Care coverage on that problematic that you have? Replacement? Since you’ve tried almost everything!

good luck!

Update on private IP address. Updating to 17.2.1 did not correct problem. Seems that with Private IP Address set to ON, an IP address is set to iPhone 13 Pro that was not previously on router ACL list (worked prior 16.X iOS with current ACL list).

Not sure what Apple’s fix is yet but for a temporary fix, placed the ‘new’ IP addressed issues with Private IP Address set to ‘ON’ and created new entry on ACL with this IP (deleting prior ACL entry that worked with 16.X). Seems to be working now but now sure this is the fix that Apple would recommend. Did not have to make this change to other Apple WiFi devices only iPhone 13 Pros (2).

This happens on my XR 17.1.2 - each time I unlock the phone I have to turn off and turn on again the WiFi network.

The problem coincided with the addition of a PIA VPN profile a month or so ago. The issue occurs whether or not the VPN profile is active which is a change from about a year ago. When this happened before, deactivating the VPN cured the issue without deleting the VPN profile.

In this case, removing the VPN profile corrected this issue.

I am not sure it's caused by any VPN profile or just PIA VPN.
