at this writing the fee to replace a spent MacBook Pro battery in the US, including parts and labor and the standard 90-day warranty on the repair, is US$250. The models that are becoming hard-to-find are the 2015 15-in models.

Your MacBook Pro is a battery-CAPABLE device. If you use it like an iPhone and don't connect to AC power at every reasonable opportunity, you MIGHT be facing replacement at soon as the three year mark.

Substantial hardware and software are constantly monitoring the battery and its charging. Your MacBook Pro will NEVER over-charge. Many users leave it connected to power at all times, and it takes care of itself without any bad effects whatsoever.

The battery in most any MacBook CAN be replaced, but the ease of that replacement can vary greatly. Earlier MacBooks, pre-2015 (?), could be replaced fairly easily and could be done by the user. Since that time however, the batteries are now glued into the case and replacement became MUCH more difficult and is best left to a skilled tech.

Battery cost is typically between $60-$100 or more.

You can get an idea of current prices by checking the OWC/macsales battery website.
