Is it possible to stop sharing photos with Google? Any new information on this?

I’ve seen many other posts about this. I want to stop sharing photos with Google permanently. I have never opted to sync photos yet it is has always shared every single photo of mine. I have the option to sync toggled to off in settings. And as said in many other posts, if you delete a photo in google it deletes it on on the iPhone. It’s very frustrating.

There seems to be an issue with pictures getting deleted when you delete the app. I just read a long thread of posts over on the Google photos help site. supposedly if you uninstall the app, but then reinstall it later, your photos are still there, and then it syncs with all photos taken on your iPhone since you deleted it. So nobody wants that. But the other problem is that a lot of people said their photos were not there when they reinstalled it and that they lost years worth of pictures. Everyone seems to be baffled and frustrated with Google over this same issue and other similar issues.
