No calendar alert sound when phone is locked!! FIXED!
Ok, this problem was driving me absolutely NUTS forever because all of a sudden, I stopped getting audible calendar alerts when my phone was locked. (I tried EVERYTHING, focus alerts, airplane mode, DND, rabbits foot in a witches kettle). I must have read about 20 forum posts regarding this and none of them worked for me. Then I read something somewhere that mentioned this issue sometimes happens when you have an apple watch connected to your phone. Well, as soon as I read that, I did some mental backtracking and realized the timing seemed to match. I've only had my apple watch for a couple of months, so I was able to go back pre-apple watch, and remembered regularly getting my calendar alerts, regardless of the phone being locked or not. Also, I realized I wasn't hearing my calendar alerts AFTER I connected my apple watch. So, after all the detective work, the culprit here ended up being the apple watch. I guess a setting change with notifications happens when you connect your watch to your phone so what I did was, OPEN YOUR APPLE WATCH APP, click NOTIFICATIONS (see image #1) then make sure those 2 settings are just like mine (image 2), then click CALENDAR (image 2 still). Then make sure your settings are just like these (image 3). I actually went back and changed one of the settings and it was not working again, so I'm pretty sure these settings here are the culprit. I tried attaching a short video clip that shows a calendar alert coming through with a sound with the phone locked but I don't think I can upload a video clip.
Oh, one more thing. I was also NOT receiving audio alerts for incoming texts sometimes, like whenever I requested a one time password or code. Those seemed to never make a sound, even though they always came through. This fix ALSO addresses this issue. I now get all text sounds (for passcodes) as well as calendar alerts.
Hopefully this will help a lot of folks out there who are wondering WHY CAN'T I HEAR MY CALENDAR ALERTS! I am so dependent on calendar alerts that this ended up being a life saver. Good luck y'all!
