Apple pay not working after Logic Board Replacement

Apple Pay will not accept CC after Logic Board Upgrade, says contact your card provider. That is not the problem.

The solution is:

  • Add a new user account to your Mac
  • Login to the new user account
  • Login with a different Apple ID into the new user account (I just made a new one),
  • Start adding a card to the Wallet/Apple Pay but don't actually completely add it, just type the details in and go a bit into the process (where the Ts and Cs showed up is where I then quit out)
  • Log out of the new user
  • Log back into the original user
  • Add the card into the Wallet, if it's working it should be a bit slow

That should do it! Bizarre fix and I am not sure what's gone wrong but I suspect some kind of corruption in the Secure Enclave that the Mac blocks from being used and adding a new user resets it? I also had a repair of Touch ID (from an Apple Store though, not a third party).

Hope this helps anyone with the same issue!

Gary, I love you. I've been suffering with this for 1.5 years since a logic board replacement. I've done literally everything else, including reinstalling the machine from backup, and trashing low level files like /private/var/db/applepay/Library/.

THIS WORKS. Make a new Apple ID and add a card. Then the reset dialog will happen on the original account and it will finally work again.
