Camera Raw Support Monterey 12.7.1

I seem to be coming near the end of OS updates, with Monterey the limit for my MacPro 2013. Been thinking of getting a new Sony A7RC camera, but cannot find a list of cameras currently supported. Anybody know if Apple has continued to update this for Monterey, so I open the raw files with Photos?

Apple does not make retroactive camera RAW updates to older operating systems. Rule of thumb: if the camera is new, it won't be supported on macOS for 6-months or even longer. This is variable by when the camera manufacturer provides Apple with the camera data and how that implementation and testing blend with Apple

s future camera raw release cycles. As fellow users, we don't have that information and neither the camera vendor nor Apple will say either.

The Sony A7R is supported on macOS Monterey and later, but not the A7RC model. The latter model is not supported so far in macOS Sonoma.

As a workaround, you could try seeing whether the latest version of the Adobe DNG Converter supports the Raw format in question.

It may be possible to prepare .DNG copies of your .Raw files that are in one of the .DNG formats that Monterey's Raw compatibility libraries understand. I don't know if you'd lose any data in the translation, or how much, but it might be worth a shot.

There is a "Sony A7CR (ILCE-7CR)" in the Camera Raw compatibility list (which is generally the same as the list for the standalone DNG Converter), qualified by a reference to a footnote that I can't find.
