Is there an open source version of a spreadsheet similar to Numbers available for Windows?

I’m a long time iOS/Mac user & I have a lot of spreadsheets that I’ve build using Apple’s Numbers. I know I can access them on my Windows computer via iCloud but this isn’t always convenient or desirable. There are plenty of open source versions of Microsoft’s Excel spreadsheet program, does anyone know if there are any open source versions of Apple’s Numbers spreadsheet program that will run on a Windows computer? Numbers is so much more customizable & attractive than Excel and I get very frustrated when trying to use Excel. I consider Excel to be ugly in comparison to Numbers.

Hi Lisa,

My "go to" spreadsheet app is Numbers on my Mac.

The progammers who created Numbers (and continue to develop Numbers) did not try to create a clone of Excel.

The Apple programmers went to a great deal of effort to:

  • create a spreadsheet app (Numbers) that will work on macOS and iOS;
  • create an app (Numbers) that will open Excel documents;
  • create an app (Numbers) that will export to Excel format.

Hmm... the reverse (from our friends in the Microsoft world) does not happen 🤔

Regards,

Ian.

Yes! And they did it so well that my frustrations with Excel are nearly unbearable. Using Excel creates frustration where using Numbers makes me smile. My creativity is encouraged while my need for data organization is satisfied. I wish Apple (or some clever person who knows how to program) would release something even a little bit similar for Windows.
