Seems you purchased an Apple Gift Card ? (Apple Card is Apple's credit card)

If so, you may want to check what kind of Gift Card you have purchased.

Eg: Apple Store gift cards may need to be used in an Apple Store, or to purchase goods from the online store.

As the card has no balance

The Gift Card may not have been properly activated for use when purchased.

You may need to take the card and your receipt back the store you bought it from, for help with that.

or

The card may have already been redeemed and the money used by someone else.

or

perhaps you just need to follow the correct steps:

Make sure that you enter the redemption code that begins with "X", not a different number on the card
