Saving photos from Messages in iOS 12??

How do you save a photo from Messages to Photos in iOS 12??? It only gives me the option to upload it to iCloud, which I don't use, or to Files. I saved it to Files but still can't figure out how to get it into Photos so I can transfer it to my iMac.

Why is this so hard??? Everything else Apple does is so easy!

Saving images/videos from Files to Photos locally Can someone competent explain to me how can an image or video from Files be saved to Photos on iOS 26.2❓🤨 Apparently this is one of basic transfer functionalities between native Apple system apps that got ruined with the upgrade to 26.x … (And there is more annoyances as well.)
