How can I stop the constant "Passwords are locked" popups on my MacBook?

My MacBook keeps giving me this popup, it happens about 25 times a day and is really annoying as it removes the focus selection when typing.

There is no application associated as this happens when developing, in browser, in Teams etc.

This started happening to me. Based on the input from the community it appears that this can be caused by a number of different things.

After much frustration I have found the counterintuitive solution for my experience.

The problem resides within Browsers / Password management

To fix:

Settings -> Passwords

You will be prompted to enter a password

Select Password Options.

AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys

  • Make sure this setting is disabled.

This option might not work for you especially if you utilize Apple Password Manager. I utilize external password management.

How this setting got enabled? "I will never know".

Hope this helps!

We have the same problem, appeared all of a sudden a while ago. I've tried now EVERYTHING all the users here have offered, and NOTHING has done any good. Sometimes the pop-ups are every few minutes, then no more until tomorrow. I'm a bit surprised that no one has mentioned AppleCare+, which we've just extended for another year. If I get no reply here, then I'll contact them.
