Apple offer security package for $500. Should I get it?

When I phoned Apple support I asked them if I needed antivirus on my Apple products I was told the only antivirus that works is the one that they sell for $500 is this true and if so is it worth it

Apple offers no such product.

It would appear you called a scam number. If you provided financial information to the criminals, contact your bank immediately, and inform them of the scam. If you allowed the criminals to access your computer, immediately change any password that was used on that computer.


For future reference: No such product is required on your Mac.

FYI, googling for Apple support is not safe or productive because Google lists the companies paying for their ads first; if you will in turn search for those phone numbers you will note that it is NOT Apple support.


Please note this Apple support number: 800-275-2273. If you search for that, it will show as an Apple phone number.
