Pairing the Keyboard doesn't seem to work. What do I do now?

I turn on the computer and the mouse. The Pair Your Keyboard page comes up but then nothing happens.

I connected both computers with a USB cord.

iMac 27″, macOS 11.7

Apple USB keyboard frequently not connecting Apple USB keyboard frequently will not connect to M1 Mac mini running running macOS Ventura. Other keywords will connect. The apple keyboard will connect to other Apple computers not running Ventura. The Apple USB keyboard will also connect to Dell machines running Windows10. The problem seems to be Ventura. How can this be fixed so that an Apple USB keyboard can be used with a M1 Mac mini running the latest OS?

The new iMac 24 inch is not giving me anything to click on. No belt.

I found no instruction manual unless it's in some strange place in the box.
