Apple store stopped giving email receipt for online orders?

Sorry if posting in the wrong topic, I could not find an apple store topic so since it was about an iphone order I will post here.


In the past I had quite a few online Apple.com orders picked up at local Apple store and they all sent me an email receipt afterwards, from (store_name)@apple.com.


But my recent two purchases did not have such email as before, in different Apple stores. I asked in the store when picking up and they both claimed the receipt will be in email. But after not receiving them I called Apple support and the store, they all told me online order has no email receipt from store.


I can access the invoice receipt from my Apple id page just fine. I am just a little confused on what happend here when stores both told me they would send email receipt.


I have perhaps 10 such email receipt from Apple stores in various locations during the many years. They are all a brief email confirming picking up with pdf receipt specifically from the store.


So my question is, does Apple still legitimately email out receipts?

Thanks for both of the replies. I just checked my history carefully and I noticed that in the past what I received, that I thought was email receipt from the store, was mostly technically a "pick up" confirmation that contains all the order info, and occasionally they did not send it either. So it is probably up to the store discretion on sending the pick up confirmation or not, and like the customer service said, they certainly could not issue a receipt.


For example I once purchased a macbook pro online, but when I was picking up the laptop I decided to add AppleCare on it and received a genuine store receipt for the AC, nothing about the laptop.


Wish I can delete the post or mark it as resolved if possible.
