After installing a new hard drive and updating my OS from 10.15 to 11.7, my Mac Mail search tool no longer works.

I tried rebuilding my inboxes. I have several accounts, and it would rebuild some of them but not my Gmail IMAP account. Then I tried deleting the Envelope Index files from my library. Search still doesn't work. I REALLY need it to work.

Search function not working in Calendar and Mail The Search function has stopped working for me in Calendar and Mail. It actually stopped working in Monterey but try as I could I couldn’t find a solution so I was hoping my upgrading to Ventura would fix the problem. It hasn’t. Not having the search functionality in these apps is extremely frustrating. The Problem: Entering search criteria (anything at all, actually) in the Calendar or Mail search box yields no results. The Situation: 27” 2017 iMac, Ventura 13.4 Actions Taken at Various Times: 1. Settings/Siri & Spotlight: All boxes are checked; Spotlight Privacy contains only one location (Time Machine drive) 2. Shut down and restarted Mac multiple times 3. Relaunched Mail and Calendar multiple times 4. Disabled and re-enabled my Mail account 5. Rebuilt Spotlight index multiple times for Calendar and Mail as per Apple Support instructions 6. Relaunched Mail by holding down the Shift key 7. Booted into Safe Mode where search still doesn't not work 8. Reinstalled Ventura Can anyone suggest anything new I might try?

This indeed did the trick! Opened up Activity Monitor, found 'corespotlightd' and quit it. Bingo, search in Mail works again! Many thanks!
