i need more software added to my Mac computer

Here is what is likely going on. Your computers likely an older one which is running an older operating system. Being an older OS, it is not compatible with many apps which have been updated to run with the newer operating systems. Depending on the year and model of your Mac you may or may not be able to upgrade its operating system. Please provide us with your Mac's year and model so we can advise you. Incidentally, it is a good idea to regularly install Os updates and upgrades when they are offered to avoid this problem.

You'll need

• At least a Late 2013 MBP to upgrade to Big Sur
• At least an Early 2015 MBP to upgrade to Monterey
• At least a 2017 MBP to upgrade to Ventura
• At least a 2018 MBP to upgrade to Sonoma

If your MBP is Mid 2012 to Early 2013 one, then Catalina (the version of macOS indicated in your tag line) is the end of the line. Any MBP with a hardware model year from before Mid 2012 would not even be eligible for Catalina.
