virus malware removal help

I clicked upon a link on a dodgy site - thinking it was asking for 'human verification' - before I realised it was not a legitimate link.

I think it has installed some malware/a virus onto my Mac. Perhaps in Safari - but I don't know how to check/remove.

I keep getting notifications that I have a virus and need to install MacAfee - which if I click on takes me to what looks like another dodgy website.

A uploaded a screenshot of the dodgy notification setting - I think is related also.

What can I do to remove this malware and make sure its gone?

I think this was it this (I added the space after 'https:' to stop it linking here):

Thanks

Thanks - that was just what I needed.

There's only thing that article does not take account of/mention.

They wrote: 'The reason [you encountering popup notices in the upper right of your Mac's screen] is that you granted permission for one or more websites to send notifications'

But - I did not knowingly grant permission.

I stupidly clicked on a link that said it wanted me to prove I was human. - Something that happens quite legitamately on websites now and then.

Which was why I didn't know where to look to remove the permission - 'malware'.

I will try to be more careful next time.

Thanks again.
