In Theory, it should work

I received a Brand New M2 machine with Ventura 13.4 and it upgraded to Sonoma 14.0 without issues

One case does not automatically mean ALL cases

Make Time Machine Backup  before doing any upGrades 

Suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space on the drive.

It will allow the Full Version ( about 12.xx GB ) to 1 - download, 2 - expand and then 3 - commence to install.

If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.

It will interfere with both the download and installation process.

You shouldn't have any problems but, as good practice dictates, be sure to have a current and full backup of your boot drive.

Also if you have installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac they should be removed according to the developer's instruction before upgrading. The are definitely not needed and can cause issues.

You may consider updating Ventura to something more recent

Then upGrade to Sonoma 14.1.1.

About the security content of macOS Ventura 13.6.1

You should be able to upgrade without issue. However, Ventura is now at 13.6.1.

It is very much more convenient to upgrade from 13.2.1 than to update to any other version of Ventura, then upgrade to Sonoma.
