My MacBook Air won't let me download any available Apps

My Mac book air will not let me download any available apps. It says it is the macOS Sierra. Can someone help?

In the Apple menu, select About This Mac, and post the MacBook Air model year. The model year determines which macOS versions you can upgrade to. You can minimally get to macOS 10.13 here, and maybe later.
