Hidden Files not hidden when restarting (MacBook Air 15-inch, M2, 2023)

When I start my MBA the Finder shows all sorts of hidden files. I use Shift+Command+Period to hide them but when I restart they show up again. Any ideas? Thanks.

From your Terminal.app you can turn off hidden files independent of the key board shortcut, copy and paste:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO; killall Finder

See if that makes the option stick on reboot. Report back your success or failure.
