How do I get the 4 image collage back for my Apple Music playlists?

The new playlist covers are ugly and difficult to distinguish. I can’t find a way to use the 4 image collage that’s used from the top 4 songs.

No longer possible, sadly this new ugly playlist cover is a feature. I submitted a product feedback report and hoping Apple changes it back or at least adds the four album cover collage as an option again.

Not sure about other computers/brands, but I figured out a way around this on a Mac! All you have to do is duplicate a playlist that already uses this feature (so an old one). The four-panel artwork will show up and will stay that way even if you delete all the songs and replace them with others. The new album art shows up automatically in the thumbnail for the playlist!

Ok, I found the craziest work around that is probably more work than it’s worth but it worked. I took screenshots of 4 albums that I wanted as the cover. Then I went to Instagram and created a 6 photo story and then added 6 photos (the 4 I want and 2 extras). I center them then click the check mark like I’m going to post it. I then zoom is out and take another screenshot and crop it into a square of just the 4 album

photos I want. You have to use the 6 frame so that the 4 you want are square and not rectangular which the default for an insta story. Making an angry playlist for the gym (and showing my age). You can see my diversity in music and how it shows up in my library

Hi, I just got it to work. I had to recreate the playlist 4 times before the 4 image collage appeared and stayed. I'm not sure why it worked, but when I created the first playlist the 4 image collage appeared for a split second, and then defaulted to their featured background. So I kept re-creating a copy of the original playlist until the collage no longer disappeared after a second. You can also screen record it and then take a screen shot of the image if the collage doesn't stay. Then set that as your playlist background.

A couple of months ago I read the SOLUTION on this platform.

And mentioned that it WORKS perfectly.

So: don't look any further. Just try.

For me it works PERFECT!

Good luck,

Paul
