Apple watch screen is blank, only lights up if I touch it.

I've had my apple watch for almost a year (Christmas gift last year) and all of a sudden it is blank/black screen. It only lights up if I touch the screen. I've turned off my watch and rebooted it and still does the same thing. It did the same thing a few weeks ago and the only way I was able to fix it was by doing a factory reset. I shouldn't have to do this every time. Any ideas? Nothing was changed in my settings, it just started doing this all of a sudden. It vibrates when I have a notification but I can't see the notification unless I press the screen.

Windows, Windows 10

iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, Display & Brightness, if as you suggest “Wake on Wrist Raise” is turned on then check Theatre (aka cinema) mode is turned off in Control Center.

If both are correctly set then the inference is that the gyro sensor may be defective,
