Numbers copy and paste tables not working correctly

When I select and copy a table by clicking on the circular icon at the top left corner of a table, and then paste it on the same sheet, the formatting is gone. Please see the attached image where the original table is at the top and the resulting table after pasting is below. What is strange is that about 20% of the time the correctly formatted table is pasted, but most of the time it is pasted wrong as per the attached image. I have been coping and pasting tables for years and have never had this problem until recently (last month upgraded to Ventura?). I've tried to copy/paste and match style, did not work. Restarted Mac, did not help.

Thoughts?

Solved. I had installed Pure Paste, an app that strips out formatting in text. When I removed the app I could not replicate the problem. When I installed Pure Paste again, the problem returned. The solution is to look in the Pure Paste settings and add Numbers to the list of excluded apps. Thank you Wayne!

When I make a duplicate of the table I do the following:

1) hold the option key, then click and hold on the table in question

2) drag to make a copy of the table

3) drop the table where I want it by releasing the mouse button

I tried the method you wrote and had to fill in some missing steps.

when I do the following I am unable to reproduce your reported problem:

1) select the table by single clicking the table drag handle

2) copy

3) paste

4) move the table where I want it

Is the table in a Native Numbers document that started from a new Numbers document?
