Not likely but it may be due to something installed on the computer. Please do the following:

It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you. The report we are requesting does NOT provide any personal information and is extremely safe to use. Please navigate to www.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

For instructions on how to download your EtreCheck report and attach it to your reply to this message please click https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211 It is helpful to us if you download the report to your Desktop.

You have some software installed that is causing problems. When I say it is installed, it appears it was partially uninstalled however bits and pieces were left behind which is very likely the cause of your problems.

You may have been advised about this already but NEVER EVER install third party:

  1. Antivirus apps
  2. Security apps
  3. Cleaning apps
  4. VPN apps
  5. Maintenance apps

What I have found is you have

  • Bitdefender
  • Mcafee.McAfeeSafariHost
  • WebrootSecureAnywhere
  • (NOTE THERE MAY EVEN BE MORE THAT I MAY HAVE MISSED)

Installing these types of apps have the opposite effects that users want. They may Mac OS slow, appear buggy (much like you are experiencing) and unstable. Mac OS does not require nor does it benefit from any of the types of apps mentioned in my list. All Mac OS needs in order to stay safe, stable and secure is to be kept up to date and to restart the computer about 1x per week. Other than that please leave it alone.

My suggestion your is case because your system is quite a mess, is to start over by doing an erase (meaning EVERYTHING is erased) and then reinstall Mac OS and then restore your data files. Then manually install any third party apps and your system should become stable again.

To be honest I would probably take the computer to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider and ask them to do this for you.

If you want to tackle this yourself you can however please ensure you have a good backup of all your data files and that your system has a Recovery Partition so you can do the erase and install. It appears you had the computer upgraded at some point by adding a Samsung internal SSD and I'm not positive a Recovery Partition is there, it very well may be but I can't tell for sure which why you need to check. When you restore do NOT re-install your settings, as those are likely corrupt from the apps you had installed. Manually re-do your settings to your preferences.

Good luck!

Please create your own thread, what you are doing is tagging onto someone else's which is called thread jacking and is considered rude which I am sure is not your intent. If you create your own thread, please describe in detail the problem you are experiencing and let us know the following:

  • Model year iMac.
  • Version of Mac OS that is installed.
  • What errors or problems you are having.
  • What troubleshooting you have already done.

Telling us something like, "Am having a problem on my IOS" tells us nothing what so ever.

Thank you for your help. I also have Malwarebytes installed . It's the realtime version. Apple recommended it . I upgraded to realtime although they said the free version was acceptable. Should I reinstall that app .

When I reinstall will there be an option not to re install settings ? I have done reinstalls before just need assistance in making sure I do it right as to not defeat the purpose .

Thank you again.
