Imac M1 2021 shuts down and starts up by itself

Every day, working on the iMac M1 2021 or not, the computer freezes for a moment, then very short a pink screen and shutting down, followed by an immediately restart.

It occurs ones a day and only when the computer is connected to internet, bij wire or air.

I checked te equipment connected with the iMac and without that connected the problem is still there.

I think the problem started after installing Sonoma late September this year. Before that I had no problem since I bought the iMac in October 2022.

Can somebody help me to fix this problem?

Your primary issue is you installed Avira antivirus. Mac OS does not require nor does it benefit in any fashion by installing the following types of third party apps:

  1. Antivirus
  2. Cleaning
  3. Security
  4. VPN
  5. Maintenance

Each of these types of apps have the exact opposite effects that users want. They make Mac OS slow, appear buggy (much like what you are experiencing) and product totally odd behavior. In order to keep your Mac secure, fast and running well all that needs to be done is to keep Mac OS up-to-date and restart the computer about 1x per week.

Please locate the developers uninstall instructions for Avira and follow them to the letter. Then restart the computer in Safe Mode and then restart normally and test the computer. If the problem continues then please do another EtreCheck report, however this time please attach it carefully per the instructions below:

If you have third-party (non-Apple) apps installed, eg. virus checker(s), cleaners and the like, ad-blockers etc., you might want to try turning them off (or uninstall using uninstallers from the developers)... even VPN and third-party browsers etc can cause issues. Update any other third-party apps you may be using to the newest version.

Re: "Can somebody help me to fix this problem?"

If the issue continues, we need to determine the cause of the issue in order to help fix it.

Safe mode can help you to determine whether an issue is caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up.

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support and see whether or not the issue still occurs .

How to: Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Leave safe mode by restarting your Mac normally, then try to reproduce the issue. If the issue doesn't return, it might have been resolved by the other things that safe mode did at startup, such as checking your disk and clearing caches.

Another step: if needed:

The Etrecheck app (free version) can be downloaded and used to generate a helpful report.(eg: to locate all the bits of any non-Apple software causing a problem so you can ensure they are removed). https://etrecheck.com:

You could post the report here, for those with the expertise to help interpret the results.

Imac 24 - M1 - 2022 is still crashing once a day, if internet connected. There are only a mouse and a keyboard (bluetooth) connected. Can they cause problems?

I removed software (o.a. Avira), did a safe mode restart, but the problem is still there…

I made a new report and added this with "additional text".

Hope you can find some more now...

Okay, I see some additional issues. Your system is getting Kernel Panics which are difficult to diagnose as they can be either hardware or software.

Hardware issues may be failing peripherals such as external HDs, hubs, printers, scanners etc that are all connected by wire. If they are connected wirelessly then they should be okay. If you have any wired peripherals connected, shut down the computer and disconnect the cable from the computer completely and the restart the computer and test for about 2-4 days. The problem goes away, then you know it's an external peripheral. You then have to methodically introduce 1 at a time, test for a few days until you found the culprit. If the problem continues then you know it's likely software and it should be okay to re-connect all the external peripherals again.

If it's software it's likely due to outdated or some other type of incompatible app or damage done to Mac OS by the Avira AV app.

The first thing to do is eliminate if the damage was caused by Avira, you can do this by restarting in the Recovery Partition and installing Mac OS. This type of install does not affect your data or the apps installed. What it does is to install missing or damaged portions of Mac OS. This should not affect your data at all, however it is smart to backup the entire computer before you begin just in case of human errors. Once you have installed Mac OS restart the computer and test for 2-3 days to see if the problem continues. If it does, continue to the next step.

The next step to do here is to ensure ALL third party apps are up-to-date. If they are not up-to-date update each until all third parts apps are as up-to-date as possible. Then it's time to re-check and see if the problem continues. If the problem is still there then you know it's likely an app that is either corrupt or has some other issue. If the system becomes stable then you know it was an out-of-date third party app and you can stop. If the problem is still there go to the next step. When installing new or updates to existing third party apps ONLY use the Mac App Store for new installs or the developers web site. NEVER EVER install third parts apps from a site that is NOT the developers or the Mac App Store.

Next, I see that within the past 60 days you have installed a number of new items, below is the list that I see. I have highlighted the apps I am suspicious of and think you should uninstall all of them and then introduce 1, then test for 2-3 days.
