setup POP account in Sonoma

Having problems setting up POP mail account with new Sonoma OS. It wants to revert to IMAP.

POP3 accounts are set up on other Mac and iphones, and all operate properly.

Ah ! I remember having to do that when I first set up the POP accounts.

It's a bit of a fiddle, but entering a fake username and password then brings up the option to select POP, otherwise it is invisible. Then you have to go back and change all the settings, port numbers etc. But it works ! Thanks Barney.

Thanks. But until now POP3 works for us, using different devices, [not synchronised], and available off line.

If it works for you great.

If you use POP email is downloaded to your device which first access the email account. If you use IMAP email is synchronized across all devices accessing the email account. Using IMAP is safer and more accessible.
