iPhone 5c won’t connect to Wi-Fi

Hey all. I found an old iPhone 5c in a box. I reset it and couldn’t set it up because every time I tried to connect Wi-Fi I would get the “unable to join (network name here)” and “failed to join (network name here)” messages almost immediately after entering the password. I had to set it up through iTunes on Mac. It was on Wi-Fi before I reset it fine, but now it’s not working. I’ve reset the network settings multiple times and tried both my 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks and my personal hotspot but it gives the same message. The phone is running iOS 10.3.3.
